Meet the team...
Phil Bononcini graduated from Oregon State University with BS in Construction Engineering Management. Phil became a Professional Civil Engineer in the state of Washington in 1986. He is married to Jan whom he met when they were both 19 year old sophomores at OSU. They have three fabulous children: Bianca, Nick and Bradey
Jan Bononcini, Phil's wife has been a regular feature at the race sites. Learned she could get her hands dirty at Valleyfield when she had to change an engine.
Joe Frauenheim, has been around boats all his life and especially vintage hydroplanes. Joe cut his teeth at his father's marina, JAFCO in Buffalo NY. Joe was in charge of the boat repair shop where he cut his fingers working on marine engines. Joe graduated from Canisius College with a BA in business, after spending the first two years at GMI, the General Motors Institute. He learned all about cars and how messed up GM was at that time, or how opposed he was to working in a bureaucratic environment. Joe and Marie married in 1969. They have four darling children: Joel, Jerel, Sandy and Sara.
Marie Frauenheim, Joe's wife, has been very supportive of his toys. She is a "hands-on" participant in the UL-72 pits, with the knowledge and ability to wrench on the boat or do whatever is necessary to get the boat on the water.
George Greer is an irreplaceable and integral team member. George can do it all from checking props for cracks to being the radio man to truck driver. Vintage Hydros are also his passion. His "MISS HAVANA", a 1956- 266 Lauderbach, should be restored and ready to go soon.
John Flaherty is our engine specialist. He is a marine engineer and systems expert.
Barb Carper has helped a great deal the last two years. Owner of the vintage Unlimited "MISS THRIFTWAY"
Mike Silcox is an experienced auto racer and has competed in IMSA Supercar, Barber Saab, SCCA TransAm. He was instructor at Skip Barber Racing School.
Larry Hollis is an experienced 4 Litre hydroplane owner/driver. Crewed for "Miss Thriftway". |
